Face Makeup FAQs

If you can’t imagine going a day without your favorite makeup products, we have good news: as long as you wear clean, high-quality makeup that’s ideal for your skin type, feel free to rock your favorite makeup look daily. What you should avoid: many mass makeup products, which are formulated with chemicals and potentially toxic components that can clog your pores, irritate your skin, and cause allergic reactions or breakouts.

When you treat your skin to vegan makeup products that are packed with naturally powerful ingredients like broccoli seed oil, castor seed oil, and Vitamin E, your skin will actually reap hydrating and nourishing benefits from a full face of makeup.

Pro tip:

Before bedtime (especially on days you wear makeup), always properly cleanse your face with a lightweight face cleanser to remove makeup, dirt, oil, and bacteria for a clean, healthy complexion.

A multi-use makeup stick is your makeup routine’s multi-tasker. With just one versatile product, you can easily swipe blendable color where you want it, whether you’re looking to add a natural flush to your cheeks or a kiss of color to your lips (or both!). Choose a blush stick that’s formulated with organic plant-powered ingredients like jojoba oil, sunflower seed oil, and green tea to nourish and hydrate your lips and skin while you glow.

Is vegan makeup and cruelty free makeup the same thing?

There is a slight differentiation here: “Cruelty-free” means that the makeup product and its ingredients were not tested on animals during development. “Vegan” means that the makeup product was formulated without animal products or animal by-products (i.e., gelatin, beeswax, collagen). Instead, vegan formulas are typically created with organic plant-based ingredients or safe synthetic ingredients that nourish your skin.

We’re proud that all Well People makeup products are both cruelty-free and vegan, meaning they are kind to your skin and the earth’s furry friends.

The secret to long-lasting makeup? Starting your beauty routine with a face primer or facial priming serum. Face primers are the MVP of your cosmetic arsenal—not only do they grip makeup for all-day wear, but they act as a barrier from your skin and turn your complexion into a smooth canvas for a flawless full-face application. Look for a lightweight, long-wear face primer that’s infused with a blend of plant-powered ingredients to hydrate your skin before you pick up your foundation brush (this will help your skin look radiant on bare-faced days, as well).

How to use makeup primer: Wash and moisturize your face first, then use a makeup sponge or clean fingertips to apply a thin, even layer of product to your skin. Let it dry for a few moments before applying your favorite face makeup products.

Stick foundations are essentially cream foundations in a handy twist-up format for a targeted application. They are ideal for building and blending out your look, concealing blemishes and uneven skin tone, and give you a full-coverage finish. Pressed powder foundations are made up of pigments and minerals and offer lightweight wear that’s ideal for warmer weather and those with oily skin. They require a makeup brush for application and give you more of a light-to-medium coverage finish.

Many people use the terms “sunblock” and “sunscreen” interchangeably, but there is actually a difference in how the two formulas protect your skin from the sun’s harmful rays. Sunscreens are formulated with chemical compounds that when applied, absorb UV light before your skin can. On the other hand, sunblocks, like our tinted moisturizer with SPF 30, are formulated with mineral ingredients like zinc oxide or titanium dioxide to create a shield on your skin and actually block the UV rays.

Don’t forget: It’s important to wear SPF every day (even when it’s cloudy) to protect your skin from sun damage.
